This however, is not the case when comparing the book To Kill A Mockingbird to the movie To Kill A Mockingbird. The morals and themes in both the book and the movie are parallel in the story of racism and Alabama life in the 1930s told through a young girls eyes (Scout). A director has many challenges to overcome when making a book into a movie because of the simple fact that the visual pleasure one gets is different from the pleasure of reading that an audience gets. Therefore, deletions, combinations of characters, and changing of scenes is necessary in order to the right way adapt a film to a book.There are many differences between the movie and the book. While watching a movie, one can not keep track of as many characters as when reading a book. A book takes a lot longer than two and a half(a) hours to read, which is about as long as or longer than most movies. Since there is only a short time to comprehend characters, the shorter the list, the better. In the book there was a character named Aunt Alexandra. Aunt Alexandra is Atticuss sist er and moves in with Atticus, Scout, and Jem in order to help raise the children. In the movie, run Maudie helps atticus raise the children and helps teach Scout to become a lady. Though Miss Maudie is also in the book, the movie combines Miss Maudie and Aunt Alexandra into just Miss Maudie. The deletion of Aunt Alexandra had not real negative impact or decline of worth on the movie. It did not change any of the morals or themes that were adapted from the book to the film.

Dmitri Shostakovich, a 20th century Russian composer and pianist, once said, A creative artist works on his next composition because he was not satisfied with his previous one. Is this why composers can compose many pieces in such a short manner span? Take Claude Debussy for example. He compose 141 pieces even though he only lived for 56 years. And what about the vast Ludwig van Beethoven? He composed 138 pieces although he only lived for 56 years and despite the fact that he began to lose his hearing at the age of 29. But how do these two grand composers bind the inspiration of writing song after song without running out of ideas? Well, the appropriate word to describe all of this is influence. Of course, Debussy and Beethoven had their let trademarks in the music world but they do share some similarities in their works.Many people know that Debussy and Beethoven composed many great classical works but they did compose some jazz like works over their music career. Noted compos er, scholar, and educator Gunther Schuller wrote an article entitled screw on Classical Classical on Jazz. In this article, he mentioned that jazz musicians of today and yesteryear have been attracted to works by classical composers and have drawn upon the inventive usage of harmonies employed by classical composers, including Debussy and Beethoven. Debussy had a profound impact on contemporary soundtrack composers such as John Williams because Debussys one-sided and evocative style translated easily into an emotional language for use in motion picture scores. Individualism in Robert Frosts The Road Not interpreted, Zalman Kings In Gods Hands and James Baldwins fellows BluesEvery society has authorized values and generally accepted ways of living that are considered normal. These principles are what keep societies organized and orderly. Conforming to these principles, however, is not necessarily the road to satisfaction for each individual. The main character, Shane, in In Gods Hands, Sonny, in Sonnys Blues, and the speaker in The Road Not Taken, all choose not to live by what is considered normal, or popular, and are able to find happiness by living as individuals.Robert Frosts The Road Not Taken is a poem about the choices every individual must make in their life. The first line of this poem, Two Roads diverged in a yellowed wood, though only seven words long, can be interpreted to mean several things. First, the color of the trees being yellow, meaning that it is fall, represents a snip of change. Second, the two roads diverge d signify a choice which must be make. In this first line Frost has metaphorically depicted a person who must make a decision that will greatly change his life. The second stanza describes the road that is chosen as grassy and wanting wear. The second to furthermost line of the poem also says that the speaker took the road less traveled by. These two lines can be interpreted to mean that the choice that was made was not the popular choice. The speaker in the poem has made his decision based on individual preference, rather than what others would consider normal. The character of Sonny, in Sonnys Blues, lives a life that would not be considered normal in any society. He is a heroin addict who has spent time in prison, and centers his life on pla... ...ing get on the tour and make some money while you still can. Shane is not driven by money and success, corresponding his friends, and thrives only on his love of surfing. At the end of the story Mickey is killed trying to surf a w ave that is to big to be surfed, and Keoni gives up on traveling and returns home to his parents. Shane, however, continues his travels, and in the end is able to find what he is looking for. He fins his ultimate wave, and surfs it with no one else around, proving to himself that he is the best surfer in the world.Though these three works differ in many ways, they all share a common theme about individuality. The idea that happiness can be found without conforming to popular opinions is expressed in each of these literary pieces. The speaker in The Road Not Taken, Sonny, and Shane all obtain personal success by living life in their own way.
